Kommentar/Beschreibung

In this course, we will take a scholarly look at the empirical social research as well as at the public discourses about gender, sexuality, and the media. For example, studies on media representations of gender and sexuality, on gender differences in media use or on sexual and romantic media use will be analyzed and discussed. The first day shall serve as an introduction into logic and methods of social research on these topics combined with working in groups. On day two and three, student presentations on selected studies and texts dealing with the topic will be held (two students each). The fourth day is meant as an open space for further discussion and deeper understanding of the research field gender, sexuality, and media. The course will be held in English.
