Kommentar/Beschreibung

In this seminar we will take an analytic perspective on anonymized Tinder profiles to learn sociological methods like content and frame analysis. We explore and analyze typical aesthetics, values and identity constructions in the self-presentation of Tinder-Users and use sociological theories to understand what is going on. By way of doing so, Students learn to speak and formulate complex issues with simple English words and sentences. To earn credits, students are requested to regularly come to our meetings, keep a journal or 'studybook', participate in speaking and writing exercises over the course of the seminar and to deliver both an oral and a written presentation of their analysis of self presentation. The seminar language is English; advanced language skills are not necessary to participate in this course!
